Phormium 'Jester' 3Ltr

A vibrant, architectural New Zealand flax with strikingly variegated foliage — arching, sword-shaped leaves in soft pink with contrasting green stripes and margins bring bold, tropical colour to borders, beds, and patio containers year-round. In hot summers, established plants may send up erect, leafless stems carrying panicles of red tubular flowers, adding a further layer of interest.

This evergreen, clump-forming perennial reaches a mature height and spread of 1–1.5m (3¼–5ft), making it a striking focal point or a bold contrast planted alongside softer, more traditional perennials. It thrives in full sun to light partial shade on fertile, well-drained soil, and copes well with mild coastal conditions. In colder inland gardens or during hard winters, a dry mulch around the base will help protect the crown from frost damage.
