Nandina domestica 'Lemon & Lime'

A vibrant and unusual variation on heavenly bamboo, Nandina domestica 'Lemon & Lime' stands out from other Nandina cultivars with its fresh, zesty foliage rather than the more typical red tones. New spring growth emerges a bright yellow-green, deepening to a rich lime-green through summer. In full sun the colour stays vivid and bright, while in shadier spots the foliage takes on a slightly darker green. White summer flowers appear in conical panicles, though flowering can be sporadic.

As with all Nandina, this plant is harmful if eaten, so care should be taken around pets and poultry, and gloves are recommended when handling and pruning.

A bushy, upright evergreen or semi-evergreen shrub, 'Lemon & Lime' reaches up to 1m in height and spread, making it a lively addition to mixed borders, shady corners, or container planting where its unusual foliage colour can really shine. It's a low-maintenance choice that holds its bright colour for much of the year.

Grow in full sun or partial shade in any moist but well-drained soil. Little pruning is required beyond removing any dead or damaged stems to maintain a neat shape.
