A dainty hardy succulent with slender, trailing stems set with tiny fleshy leaves in purple-red tones, forming a low, spreading mat that's perfect for softening the edge of a container or rockery. In late summer, clusters of small white pom-pom flowers rise on short stems above the foliage, drawing in bees and other pollinators.
Give it a sunny, well-drained spot and it will stay compact and richly coloured, reaching around 10cm tall at flowering with a similar spread. It tolerates a wide range of soils, from dry and gravelly to neutral or alkaline, and is happy to be left to its own devices once established. It's also easy to propagate — any fallen leaves will readily root themselves, so a single plant can quickly multiply into a generous mat.
Lovely mixed in among other small succulents in a bowl or trough, or grown alone as a neat, low-maintenance feature on a sunny windowsill or patio table. Each plant is hand-selected before dispatch.
