Tulip Red Madonna (6)

Flamboyant and unmistakably theatrical, Tulip 'Red Madonna' is a showstopping Parrot tulip for anyone who likes their spring borders with a bit of drama. Deep crimson-red petals are dramatically fringed and twisted, feathered through with striking blue-black markings — no two blooms ever look quite the same.

Flowering late in the tulip season, Red Madonna extends the display just as earlier varieties begin to fade, reaching 16–20" in height on sturdy stems well suited to a mixed border or dense clusters for maximum impact. The large, ruffled flowers also make a spectacular cut flower, holding their eccentric shape beautifully in a vase.

Plant bulbs in autumn, 6–8" deep in full sun and well-drained soil. As with all tulips, bulbs are best kept out of reach of pets and children if ingested.
