Almond (Prunus 'Ingrid')
One of the earliest trees into flower each year, Prunus 'Ingrid' lights up the garden with masses of pale pink blossom in March and April, well before most other blossom trees have stirred. The flowers give way to velvety, pale green fruits that ripen through late summer into a genuine home-grown almond harvest come September. Self-fertile and a reliably heavy cropper, it's an excellent choice for anyone wanting a productive tree that earns its place ornamentally too.
Grow in a sunny, sheltered spot with well-drained soil, protecting the early blossom from late frosts where possible. 'Ingrid' shows good resistance to leaf curl and reaches an ultimate height and spread of around 4–8 metres over 10–20 years, so allow it room to develop.
British grown. Each tree is hand-selected before dispatch.
