Anemone hybrida Whirlwind 2l

A distinctive Japanese anemone prized for its large, semi-double white flowers with a lightly ruffled, slightly untidy charm and golden-yellow centres. Held on tall, wiry stems above neat mounds of dark green, divided foliage, the blooms sway gracefully in the breeze from late summer right through autumn, often continuing even after a light frost.

Grow in sun or dappled shade, in a moist, fertile, well-drained, humus-rich soil. It's a low-maintenance, hardy perennial that needs no staking or deadheading to keep flowering, and thrives with minimal fuss once established, though it dislikes being disturbed once settled in. Avoid excessive winter wet. After flowering, cut back to the basal foliage, and in spring simply remove any dead leaves as fresh growth emerges. Reaching around 90-120cm in height with a spread of 60-90cm, it naturalises well over time to form a generous patch.

A striking choice for the back of a border, a woodland-edge planting, or a cutting garden, and lovely paired with ornamental grasses or autumn-flowering asters. Each plant is hand-selected before dispatch.
