Cercis canadensis var. texensis 'Oklahoma' — 12L Pot

The Texas redbud brings something genuinely different to this group: thick, waxy, glossy rounded leaves instead of the usual papery heart-shapes, giving the whole tree a more lustrous, refined look. In spring, dark wine-red flowers smother the bare branches for two to three weeks before the foliage emerges tinged with pink, maturing to a rich glossy green through summer and turning brilliant yellow — occasionally orange or red — in autumn. Discovered growing wild in Oklahoma's Arbuckle Mountains, it's proven itself as a genuinely hardy, adaptable selection.

Grow in full sun or partial shade, in deep, fertile, moist but well-drained soil. It develops into a spreading, often multi-stemmed tree, eventually reaching 8–12m in height with a spread of 4–8m over 20–50 years — a substantial, long-lived specimen that earns its place with three full seasons of interest.
