Apple (Malus) Christmas Pippin® Cordon M9

A modern, RHS Award of Garden Merit-winning dessert apple, discovered as a chance seedling in 2000 and introduced commercially around 2010–2011. Often dubbed "the new Cox" — it offers a similar depth of flavour to Cox's Orange Pippin, but from a tougher, more reliable, easier-to-grow tree.

Fruit is round-conical, with thin yellow skin flushed and streaked scarlet-red. The flesh is sweet, crisp yet melting, juicy and aromatic, with a rich, honeyed sweetness and a touch of sharpness for depth. Best flavour develops after a few weeks off the tree.

A reliable spur-bearer, making it a great choice for trained forms. Flowers in mid-season (pollination group 3) and is not self-fertile, so needs a suitable pollinating partner nearby (ideally from group 2, 3 or 4). A heavy, dependable cropper. Picked from early-to-mid October and stores particularly well, keeping right through to December — even into the New Year.

Grown as a cordon on dwarfing M9 rootstock, reaching approximately 2–2.5m in height when trained on a single stem — a space-saving way to grow this excellent modern variety along a wall, fence, or in a smaller garden.

Supplied as a healthy, well-rooted tree, ready to establish in its new home. A fantastic modern alternative for anyone who loves a Cox but wants an easier, more forgiving tree.
