Apple (Malus) Bramley 20 MM106

A refined selection of Britain's most famous cooking apple, cloned from the original Bramley's Seedling tree by Nottingham University in 1990. Bramley 20 is around 20% less vigorous than the standard Bramley's Seedling, making it a more compact and manageable choice for the garden while still delivering excellent, heavy crops.

Fruit is large, with mid-green skin sometimes flushed brownish-red, and sharp, greenish-white flesh that cooks down to a well-flavoured, fluffy, cream-coloured purée — the classic Bramley cooking quality, in a more garden-friendly tree.

A triploid, part tip-bearing variety in pollination group 3, so it will need two suitable pollinating partners nearby (ideally from groups 2, 3 or 4), as it cannot pollinate other apple trees itself. Vigorous and disease-resistant, with heavy, reliable yields. Picked from early-to-mid October and stores well through to early spring.

Grown on semi-vigorous MM106 rootstock, reaching approximately 3–4m in height and spread at maturity — suitable as a bush or half-standard tree, and tolerant of a wide range of soil types.
