Apple (Malus) Bountiful M26

A modern classic cooking apple, bred at East Malling Research Station in Kent in the 1960s (a cross of Cox's Orange Pippin and Lane's Prince Albert). Large, pale green fruit develops an attractive orange-red flush as it ripens.

The flesh is sweet, juicy and holds its shape beautifully when cooked — sharper and crisper eaten fresh, mellowing to a dessert-quality sweetness if left in store into the New Year. A reliable, heavy-cropping variety with good disease resistance, particularly to mildew.

A natural spur-bearer with a compact, upright habit, making it a great choice for smaller gardens. Flowers in mid-season (pollination group 2) and needs a suitable pollinating partner nearby (ideally group 1, 2 or 3). Picked from late September and stores well into winter.

Grown on semi-dwarfing M26 rootstock, reaching approximately 2.4–3m in height and spread at maturity — well suited to bush or trained forms in a compact space.
