Rosa 'Evelyn Wilde'

One of the most celebrated and sought-after David Austin English roses ever bred, 'Evelyn' is renowned for its extraordinary fragrance and luxurious blooms. Large, beautifully cupped flowers open into full rosettes packed with over 100 petals in rich apricot with soft peach and pink tones. The fragrance is exceptionally strong, combining classic old-rose notes with sumptuous fruity hints of fresh peaches and apricots — the very perfume that gave the rose its name, chosen on behalf of Crabtree & Evelyn for their range of rose fragrances.

A vigorous, upright to slightly arching shrub with moderate thorns and mid-green foliage, 'Evelyn' flowers repeatedly from late spring right through to autumn. It performs best in full sun, in fertile, moist, well-drained soil. A light trim in autumn followed by a proper prune in spring will keep growth strong and encourage a full flush of blooms, with feeding recommended at pruning time and again after the first flowers appear.

Reaching around 1.2–1.5m (4–5ft) in height with a spread of 1–1.2m (3–4ft), 'Evelyn' makes a stunning feature plant and is especially prized for cutting gardens, where its unforgettable fragrance can be enjoyed indoors as well as out.
