A striking evergreen shrub prized for its variegated foliage, Pittosporum 'Garnettii' brings year-round structure and colour to borders, containers, and coastal gardens. Its small, grey-green leaves are edged in creamy white, taking on a pink flush in colder months for added winter interest.
Compact and bushy in habit, it typically reaches 2–3m (6½–10ft) in height and 1.5–2m (5–6½ft) in spread over 10 years, making it a versatile choice for hedging, screening, or as a specimen plant. The wavy-edged leaves are carried on distinctive near-black stems, creating attractive contrast throughout the seasons.
Easy to grow in any moist but well-drained soil, this shrub prefers a sheltered, sunny position and is particularly well suited to milder, coastal gardens where it can tolerate salt-laden winds. It benefits from protection against hard frosts and cold, drying winds in exposed inland sites. Trim in spring to maintain a neat shape and encourage dense, bushy growth. As with other Pittosporum, the foliage can cause mild stomach upset if ingested, so position thoughtfully in gardens visited by children or pets.
Each plant is hand-selected before dispatch.
