Carex Amazon Mist 3ltr

A softly textured, clump-forming evergreen sedge with fine, arching, hair-like foliage in a distinctive silvery sage-green. In mid and late summer it sends up wiry stems carrying subtle brown flower spikes, but it's really the foliage that earns this plant its place — a fountain-like mound that catches the light and sways gently in the breeze, bringing movement and softness to whatever it's planted alongside. It's equally at home threaded through mixed borders, massed for a naturalistic drift, or used as a textural contrast in pots and containers.

Reaching around 35cm in height with a slightly wider spread of up to a metre, 'Amazon Mist' does best in full sun or partial shade, in fertile, moist but well-drained soil — it's tolerant of chalk, loam, sand and clay, but dislikes sitting in extremes of wet or drought, so good drainage matters. A sheltered spot suits it best. It's low maintenance once established: simply trim out any dead or tatty leaves in summer to keep it looking fresh, and divide congested clumps in mid spring to early summer if you want to propagate more or refresh an older plant. It's reliably hardy through most of the UK and largely untroubled by pests or disease, making it a dependable, easy-care choice for year-round structure.
