Phormium 'Yellow Wave' 3Ltr

A vigorous, striking New Zealand flax with large, arching leaves striped in light green and buttery yellow, brightest in spring and mellowing to a soft yellow-green through summer. The graceful, cascading foliage forms a shapely, rounded dome, and in a good summer, tall stems of red-brown flowers rise dramatically above the clump, adding further architectural drama.

This robust, evergreen perennial reaches a height and spread of around 2m (6½ft), making it a bold, sculptural presence at the back of a border or as a striking specimen in a large container. It grows best in fertile, well-drained soil in full sun to light shade, in a position sheltered from strong, cold winds — some winter protection may be needed in colder parts of the UK.
