A striking single-flowered anemone with rich, deep wine-red blooms and a contrasting black centre, Anemone 'Bordeaux' brings real depth of colour to spring displays. Part of the De Caen group, its poppy-like flowers open on wiry stems above finely divided, ferny foliage, making it a lovely companion for daffodils and tulips in beds, borders and cutting patches alike.
Growing to around 20-30cm in height with a spread of 15-20cm, this variety is best planted in autumn or early spring, with the knobbly corms soaked overnight beforehand to speed up growth. Plant 5cm deep in well-drained soil in full sun or light shade. Flowers appear from mid to late spring and are excellent for cutting, lasting well in a vase.
