This Berry Mix brings together berrying varieties from the series, giving clusters of glossy berries through autumn and winter against neat, dark green evergreen leaves. In spring, white flowers open in April and May, so these compact shrubs give interest across the seasons. They’re a natural choice for winter pots, Christmas containers and shady borders, and the sprigs make a long-lasting addition to festive arrangements.

Gold Series skimmias form a rounded, bushy shrub of around 1m by 1m after about ten years. They have strong root systems and are less troubled by red spider mite than many older varieties. Grow them in partial to full shade, in moist but well-drained, humus-rich soil that is neutral to acidic. In pots, use ericaceous compost and water regularly, especially in dry spells. They’re hardy to around -15°C and need no pruning. For the best berries in future years, plant them near a male skimmia such as ‘Rubella’. The berries are ornamental and not for eating, so plant them away from where young children or pets might sample them.

Varieties are supplied as a mix and individual plants may vary. Each plant is hand-selected before dispatch.
