Developed over several generations by the Sárvári family in Hungary, it’s renowned as one of the most blight-resistant potatoes ever bred, and holds the RHS Award of Garden Merit. This high-yielding late maincrop produces large, regular tubers with attractive pink-red skins and floury flesh with a superb flavour and fluffy texture. A versatile all-rounder, it’s especially good for roasting, baking, mashing and chips.

Alongside its outstanding resistance to blight on both foliage and tubers, Sarpo Mira shows good resistance to blackleg, potato viruses and bruising, and its tubers seem less appealing to slugs than most. A deep root system gives it excellent drought tolerance, while its tall, vigorous foliage helps smother weeds. It stores exceptionally well, often keeping for six months or more. Chitting is optional but can help give an earlier crop. Plant out from mid-April to late May once the soil has warmed, around 10cm deep and 40cm apart. Earth up as the shoots develop so the tubers stay covered, as potatoes exposed to light turn green and shouldn’t be eaten. The plants keep growing until the first frosts, so you can lift your crop from September onwards, around 18 to 20 weeks after planting. Keep an eye on tuber size, as they bulk up quickly and can become very large if left too long. Store in a cool, dark, frost-free place.

Each pack is checked before dispatch.
