It produces fairly large, round-oval tubers with smooth yellow skins, very shallow eyes and rich yellow flesh. Its slightly dry, floury texture makes it superb for creamy mash, baking and roasting, and it boils well too.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003eMelody is an easy, trouble-free variety with good all-round disease resistance, including good resistance to scab, bruising and damage. It also copes well with heat and drought, making it a dependable choice in drier summers. An excellent keeper, it will store well into the winter months. Chitting is optional for maincrops but helps give a strong start. Plant out from late March to April, around 10cm deep and 40cm apart. Earth up as the shoots develop so the tubers stay covered, as potatoes exposed to light turn green and shouldn’t be eaten. Water well during dry spells and keep an eye out for blight in warm, humid weather. Your crop should be ready to lift in September.
