It inherits the elongated shape and fine, nutty flavour of Pink Fir Apple, but crops around eight weeks earlier and produces smoother tubers that are far easier to prepare. The small, slightly knobbly potatoes have pale pinkish-beige skins and firm, waxy, creamy-white flesh that holds its shape perfectly. Delicious boiled or steamed and served warm with butter, or cooled for summer salads, with no need to peel.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003eAs a second early, Anya is quick to crop and shows good resistance to scab, making it a reliable choice for kitchen gardens and allotments. Its compact growth also suits large containers and potato bags on the patio. Chit your seed potatoes in a cool, bright, frost-free spot for four to six weeks, then plant out from March to April, around 10cm deep and 30cm apart. Earth up as the shoots develop so the tubers stay covered, as potatoes exposed to light turn green and shouldn’t be eaten. Keep well watered during dry spells, and your crop should be ready to lift from mid-summer, around 13 to 15 weeks after planting.
