Chit your seed potatoes in a cool, bright, frost-free spot from late winter, then plant out from March to early April, around 10cm deep and 30–40cm apart, with 70–75cm between rows. Earth up two or three times as the shoots grow so the tubers stay covered, since potatoes exposed to light turn green and shouldn’t be eaten. Keep well watered in dry spells, and your crop should be ready to lift around 10–12 weeks after planting, often from June.
