Yellow catkins appear in spring, followed by fresh green leaves through summer. It's a fast-growing and easy willow, perfect for damp ground, pond and stream edges, and winter-interest planting. It combines beautifully with red- and orange-stemmed dogwoods and willows.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003eIt grows to around 6m x 5m after 10 years if left unpruned. For the brightest winter stems, cut back hard in early April every year or two. This coppicing encourages plenty of vivid new shoots and keeps the plant compact. Plant in full sun in moist or wet soil. It tolerates chalk, clay and coastal conditions.
