Ovate, dark green leaves turn a glowing golden-yellow in autumn, and conspicuous catkins up to 17cm long add further interest in spring.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003eA vigorous, medium-sized deciduous tree of broad, conical habit, 'Jermyns' makes a superb specimen for larger gardens or parkland, and is particularly effective planted in small groups, where the gleaming white trunks create a striking rhythm against darker planting or evergreens behind.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003eGrow in full sun or partial shade, in any reasonably fertile, moist but well-drained soil — this variety tolerates chalk, clay, loam and sand, though it's best avoided on shallow chalky ground.
